I wonder how many World War II era photographs are fading away stashed in homes? For Veterans Day I scanned several WWII photos I found of our family, daily life in the War in the Pacific, and even a 1944 "Liberty Pass" for Hilo, Hawaii. Then through You Tube I added the haunting bugle call “Taps” and stepped briefly back in time to this most extraordinary generation.
Sharing the trial and error learned lessons of a MS spouse caregiver / carer about family, home care, and transition to the care facility era from 23 years of living with Multiple Sclerosis as a family ... a ‘warts and all’ picture of living with MS.

ReplyDeletevery nice:) my grandpa served in WW2 i always loved hear him tslk about it. It made him deaf in his left ear from shooting the big guns. DH was in the army in the late 70's, Son Zach was in the army he went to Iraq.

..............I talked my mother into interring my step-father in a national cemetery. She has seemed so pleased and tells me every visit that she will be right there, too! Those vets are never abandoned, never forgotten, and forever honored!

The WW2 era is facinating to me and I'm sure that I have romantized it. I love the music from that time and "I'll be Seeing You" is one of my favorites.

I enjoyed watching this UTube video you put together for Veterans Day. Taps cut out some, but in general it worked better on my computer than other videos have. (got to get my son over here to help me remove cookies or something) That ship looks like the size of the destroyer my son was on during his navy tour. He is a gulf war veteran. My uncle went down coming back from a bombing run over Japan. I am 75 now. Gerry
