Caregiving: campus visit AM

Any August morning in the 70’s is meant to be an MS day. We loaded up our van with Patti, wheelchair, and scooter and hit the road. This was Patti’s first opportunity to visit our daughter’s college campus, and at 100 miles each way her longest trip in years.

Our ramp van swallowed up all the necessary support equipment and vehicles <grin> plus passengers. Just the freedom of acres of wide open spaces to scooter about in was a blast to Patti.

If you are a visually impaired driver intoxicated by speed beware of random pieces of oversized art that suddenly may jump in front of you. <grin>

OK, I’ll get in a picture ... Notice how the “man purse” is worn bandoleer style and hidden on back hip.

As a caregiver spouse I must carry a bag of necessities, but try to be as manly as possible about it. <grin>

  1. the "man purse" compliments your outfit quite well. that was an interesting picture of the tree; I'm thinking it was a tree or was it a sculpture?

sounds like an enjoyable start to an enjoyable day.

  3. Aww you look wonderful together.  Most just put their sarnies in their duffle bags but at least yours has a very good purpose.......and it's very becoming.

I saw Patti has a wonderful smile and sense of humour from the other photo.........I'd have to go round and round that sculpture a few times to decide on what it was :) it's certainly an interesting one.

Am glad the day was good, the college seems quite spacious.  Rache

  4. .....what a wonderful day!
I understand the loading up of all the "stuff", and carrying all the other necessities.  I left my extra bag of goodies at the dealer when we had the van checked for a recall item.  They told us we would be there about 4 hours----which requires some planning ahead.  Well, in twenty minutes they had discovered that Braun had already replaced the part.  I  accidentially left the bag of "stuff" there!  Two months later I asked and they had saved the bag saying it looked important to them!  Needless to say I had more than one bag for necessities! lol

  7. Actually, you look very manly, in an early 70's sort of way, with the bright tie-dyed t-shirt and jeans... brings back memories of my own college days (71-75) at UGA. You two both look much younger in this setting... Men carried those style bags back in the early days of the settling of our country. It was completely manly then, and shouldn't be any less manly now... I've seen dads carrying around diaper bags that are so big and bulky these days... only a man-sized person could haul one of those heavy carriers on their shoulders.  Your humor here is delightful <grin>. What did Patti think about the campus? It looks like she had fun. Does she understand that her daughter will be living there, and not closer to home? Bea
